Retiring Archbishop of Canterbury to become peer

Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams retires from his post December 31, 2012, and Bishop Justin Welby becomes the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury on January 1, 2013. Prime Minister David Cameron announced December 26 that Williams “will be created a Baron for Life by the style and title of Baron Williams of Oystermouth in the City and County of Swansea.” (Swansea is in Wales.)
